It was a hot summer night when a thirteen-year boy lay down on a bed after a shower. Next to his bed was sleeping a lady in her sixties, which he calls Amma-Bi. The boy gave a longing glance because he wanted to cling to her so he could get rid of the nightmares but she was already in deep sleep and he didn't want to bother her. Dejectedly the boy turned to another way and reluctantly closed his eyes. Hardly after ten to fifteen minutes later he heard a door opening sound but remain in the same position thinking that Amma-Bi might be going to the bathroom.
"Amma-Bi." Came a whisper and his ears perked.
"Moosa? What is it? Is everything alright?" He heard Amma-Bi's worried voice.
"Yes, but you need to come with me right now."
"Where?"
"I will tell you the details later. Yawar might wake up."
A small smile appeared on Yawar's face when he heard his name. Moosa cared for him, this thought was overwhelming.
"Chalo (Let's go)." Yawar heard Amma-Bi's voice and then with a door closing sound the room went silent again.
The emptiness of the room and his curiosity were too much for keeping him still. Getting up from the bed, he tip-toed behind Amma-bi and Moosa but was careful enough that both of them wouldn't notice and they didn't since the topic of their conversation kept them blind from the surrounding. She was led to a room which is only used by Moos'a elder sister Natasha whenever she came to visit.
"Amma-Bi." Yawar heard Natasha's voice, "Someone needs you."
Yawar peeked inside the room and found a girl of his age sitting at the edge of the bed with a frightful expression.
"What is your name?" Amma-Bi asked standing still in her place.
"Sha-hina"
"Shahina, it is a beautiful name. Tell me, Shahina, do you know who I am?" The girl hesitantly shook her head in negative.
"I am your Amma-Bi." She smiled sitting beside her but received no response from her. She was still as before looking at everyone with a frightful expression.
"I am their mother." Amma-Bi said pointing towards Moosa and Natasha.
"Beta (child), do you understand what I am saying?" She nodded.
"So, I am your mother too from now on. You can also call me Amma-Bi." The girl stared at her with a blank face.
"Who am I?" Amma-Bi asked her.
"Amma-Bi." She mumbled.
"Very good, you are a good girl. Do you want to eat something?" The girl shook her head in negative.
"Okay. So can your Amma-Bi sleep with you?"
"No, you are going to sleep with me." Yawar shouted coming inside the room. It was too much for him to take in. Furious on the newcomer he tried to march toward her, but Moosa stopped him.
"Nats Api who is she? Why she is sleeping with my Amma-Bi."
"She is our Amma-Bi, why did you bring her here?" He asked clenching Moos'a sleeve.
"Ssshh! No need to shout. This kid needs our help." Moosa tried to explain.
"I don't care but Amma-Bi is sleeping with me." He almost shouted.
"Yawar, come with me." The next moment, Natasha dragged him out of the room holding his arm.
Before leaving the room he shot a glare to the girl sitting on the bed looking at him while hugging her knees.
You will not stay here longer...
He promised to himself.
